Karachi killings case: AG presents ’92 operation report


KARACHI: The hearing of the suo motu case on the Karachi killings by a special bench of the Supreme Court was underway on Thursday, DawnNews reported.

During the hearing, the Advocate General presented a report on the military operation in Karachi in1992. The AG clarified that they only had details of the number of people killed.
Moreover, Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry questioned the police on the details of Advocate Fahim’s murder case, and ordered a report to be submitted on Friday.
Commenting on the matter of resignations of MQM ministers, Chief Justice Iftikhar remarked that if the resignations had been submitted then they should have been accepted.
Chief Justice Iftikhar also remarked that Director-General Rangers Sindh Ejaz Chaudhry had claimed that the law and order situation in the city would improve, but dead bodies were still surfacing.
The special bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar, includes Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani, Justice Amer Hani Muslim and Justice Ghulam Rabbani.
