Joker Opening Day Collection Update

Friday, 31 August 2012

Joker has started slowly in the opening day. Morning shows registered a dull opening of 15-20% on average across all India. Noon and afternoon shows have shown an occupancy of 20-25% on average all India. Occupancy of Joker is surprising and disappointing since, it stars Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles who have given Blockbuster with their last release Rowdy Rathore.

First Day collection is coming very poor till now and it will have very difficulty to cross a figure of 5 crore nett all India by the end of the day. 5 crore nett mark is poor considering Joker had immense potential of crossing 10-12 crore nett mark on First day with 50-60% occupancy easily.

Tuesday, 28 August 2012

Ek Tha Tiger is showing drop again on Second Tuesday as per early reports received from everywhere. High end multiplexes are still sustaining well and showing a drop of 10-15%.

It is too early to predict the 2nd Tuesday collection, but still it should be in the range of 2.5-3 crore nett all India. Ek Tha Tiger race to 3 Idiots lifetime collection is slowly steaming away and it will be highly difficult now to catch that figure. It will have to show superb trending in coming days to near that figure.

Neil Armstrong 1st man on the moon, Died.

Saturday, 25 August 2012

Neil Armstrong, the Apollo 11 astronaut who became the first human being to set foot on another world, has died. He was 82.

In a statement his family said Armstrong had passed away following complications resulting from cardiovascular procedures. The family described him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and also as "a reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job."

"That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."
When Armstrong set foot on the moon on July 20, 1969, he fulfilled the goal that had been set by President John F. Kennedy just eight years earlier. It was a long, long way from Armstrong's birthplace near tiny Wapakoneta, Ohio in 1930. Armstrong's fascination with airplanes began with his first flight at age six, and that fascination never abandoned him. He left Purdue University in 1950 when the Korean War broke out, and flew 78 combat missions as a naval aviator.

The preparation for the moon landing included learning how to fly the ungainly lunar module, which would descend vertically to the moon's surface. Armstrong had another brush with death when the training vehicle rolled to its side, and he was forced to eject just two hundred feet from the ground.

And then, finally, after years of training, the moment arrived: On July 16, 1969, a giant Saturn V rocket lumbered off the pad at the Kennedy Space Center, carrying the thirty-eight-year-old Armstrong and crewmates Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins.

Armstrong later said that the landing itself was the high point of the mission for him. He coaxed the lunar module past craters and boulders as Aldrin called out speed and altitude.

"Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed."

"In my own view, the important achievement of Apollo was a demonstration that humanity is not forever chained to this planet, and our visions go rather further than that, and our opportunities are unlimited," Armstrong said.

Mike Collins flatly stated what so often was said about his reticent and self-effacing commander: "I can't offhand think of a better choice to be the first man on the moon."

Armstrong's family said, "While we mourn the loss of a very good man, we also celebrate his remarkable life and hope that it serves as an example to young people around the world to work hard to make their dreams come true, to be willing to explore and push the limits, and to selflessly serve a cause greater than themselves.

Ek Tha Tiger Second Weekend Collection and Second Sunday Update

Second Friday collections were around 4.8 crore nett all India for ETT. 2nd Saturday multiplex business is better than 2nd Friday and if single screen performs well to its potential, collections on 2nd Saturday should be easily 30% more than 2nd Friday.

So, how is 2nd Sunday Advance Booking Report. 2nd Sunday advance booking report is very good and specially in high end multiplexes. Already 40-50% tickets are booked for many shows of 2nd Sunday. Some theatres are already reporting 75-85% booked. So, going by early trends 2nd Sunday is on its way to accumulate huge numbers. Since, ETT screen space is reduce, a figure of 9 crore nett+ will not be impossible and will be huge by every imagination for a 12th day at box office.

It is too early to predict any numbers but Second weekend is on course for a 20 crore nett figure and anything above this is added plus for the film. It is no doubt that ETT is Blockbuster and heading for an all time blockbuster status.

Salman Khan Deserves 100 Cr : Subhash Ghai

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has decided to wield the megaphone again and team up with Salman Khan for an action packed masala entertainer. Ghai had stopped directing films to concentrate on his film school Whistling Woods International. But now he will soon be getting behind the camera. He has two films at hand.
"I am returning to direction. I have two films... one with Salman that I will start next year and other I will start shooting this year," Ghai told.

Earlier, the duo came together for Yuvvraj in 2008 but it was a box office failure. Ghai admits that he made a mistake by making a romantic-musical film with Khan.

"After Wanted he has emerged as the new action hero. Audience likes to see him in this zone. It would be foolish on my part to make romantic kind of films with him. We made a mistake by casting him in Yuvvraj," Ghai said.

"I have signed Salman for my film. Considering Salman's superstar status and the love that he has got for doing action films, I would be making an action-masala kind of movie. He is Superman Salman. We are working on the script," he added.

Ek Tha Tiger Second Friday Net Collections

Ek Tha Tiger collected around 4.5-5 crore on its second weekend Friday. The total of first 10 days is now around 159 crore and Ek Tha Tiger seems to have a second weekend of around 20 crore which is Good. It will be the third highest second weekend of a movie after 3 Idiots and Dabangg. As second Friday is the tenth day of the movie so 5 crore is a very good amount. There are still many chances that ETT will beat the lifetime record of 3 Idiots.
